Kindness is complicated

Someone who tips a waitress 50% is kind Someone who buys a bike lock for a stranger in need is kind Someone who reaches out to an acquaintance crying out for help is kind Someone who volunteers to teach music to impoverished high school students is kind Someone who takes time out of their busy day to meet with someone who loves them is kind But what if that same person Who pays for your dinner Who writes you letters Who stands up for those who can't stand up for themselves What if that same person hurts you? Hits you? Tells you they're sick of you? Cuts you off without a warning? Abandons you? Are they still kind? Are kind actions the same as being a kind person? Are kind intentions the same as being kind? Does one bad act negate kindness? Is anyone truly kind? Are they still kind?
